THE BOMBARDMENT is a feature film about the great tragedy that hit Denmark on 21st of March, 1945. Royal Air Force’s successful raid on the Gestapo headquarters in Shell House, in Copenhagen, went fatally wrong when the bombers struck The French School by mistake. More than 120 people were killed, 86 of them children. And behind the statistics is a moving tale.

Ole Bornedal has created a strong and moving story about the fateful incident, as seen through the eyes of the children at the school, the nuns, the young, captive freedom fighters, and the attacking airmen.

This is both a strong, intimate story, and an epic tale of life during the war.

In the battle for peace, civilians and innocents always pay the highest price.

THE COMPANY

Miso Film was founded in 2004 by the producer team Jonas Allen and Peter Bose, who started their collaboration on the Swedish thriller and crime series BECK and WALLANDER. The company is behind and most known for the Danish TV-series THOSE WHO KILL, three seasons of TV 2’s DICTE, Ole Bornedal’s war epic 1864 and latest Christoffer Boe’s highly acclaimed WARRIOR and the popular Viaplay original DARKNESS – THOSE WHO KILL, a reboot of the successful series. Miso Film is also located in Norway, where they have produced the film series VARG VEUM as well as the TV-series AQUITTED, and two seasons of MODUS in Sweden, a TV-series based on Anne Holts crime novels.

On the big screen Miso Film has featured with the thriller success THE CANDIDATE as well as co-produced the Norwegian World War II resistance drama MAX MANUS. Furthermore, the company is behind the Danish comedies LONG STORY SHORT and HEAVY LOAD, the family film franchise IQBAL FAROOQ based on Manu Sareen’s childrens books and latest Ole Bornedal’s box-office hits SMALL TOWN KILLERS and THE WAY TO MANDALAY. The company is behind Scandinavia’s first original Netflix series THE RAIN and is currently producing the second season of the popular young adult series. Additionally, the company is finishing Christoffer Boe’s highly anticipated crime series FACE TO FACE, which is set to premiere on Viaplay in the fall of 2019.
